    • Welcome of the Anonymous secure online foreign object surveillance portal
      The presence of foreign objects found in carcass tissue is a serious problem in terms of food safety and quality. Although the incidence is very low, when a foreign object is detected in a carcass, the loss of value in the carcass can be extreme. Increased amount of trim and/or condemnation of the entire carcass represents significant loss of carcass value. The risk of these incidents reaching the consumer is low but not impossible. All sectors involved in the production of beef cattle are responsible for eliminating (to the extent possible) the risk of a foreign object incident to animals entering the food chain.
For some background information on our SCAP project, the title of our project is, “Benchmarking and Surveillance for Risk Mitigation and Equivalency for Certification ”. The objective of this project is to address standard and process gaps that have been identified through the VBP+ certification and training data and producer and stakeholder feedback, explore market opportunities through benchmarking, establish equivalencies with other international and domestic certification processes and expand producer training content. This project aims to maintain both producer and consumer trust in the VBP+ program and the Canadian beef industry
